History

After two years of prayer by Rev. Peter Atkins, the Chinese Church in Hobart was born in May 1989, first in the form of Bible study on Saturday afternoon.

From November 1989, bilingual Cantonese and English worship service was held once every two weeks. The Church welcomes believers of any denomination. It is a spiritual home for all Chinese Christians. Through Bible study, prayer, Sunday worship and other activities, we seek to strengthen the life  of the fellowship to learn together to serve the Lord and to bear witness to Him through words and actions. Those who worship with us, come from different countries and denominations, but God has united us together to serve Him and He has been pleased to add to the Church such as should be saved. Moreover, throughout the years, many of those who have gone back to their own countries or moved to other parts of Australia continue to witness to Jesus Christ in their various professions and different denominational churches.

The Church now has Cantonese and Mandarin worship service every Sunday; We welcome all Christian and non-Christian friends to join us in our various activities and we would echo words of the Apostle Paul that Our hearts desires and prayer to God, is that they might be saved.
